Our Achievements

Since AWiA was founded in 1992, we have achieved major milestones. These include;

  • AWiA includes many past RIRDC Rural Women's Award awardees and the first ABC Rural Woman of the Year became our treasurer.
  • Partnerships with a number of industry bodies, government departments and other organisations to broaden opportunities for our members
  • Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) Scholarships assisted in travel to the III World Congress in Madrid
  • Global Games workshops, in partnership with the Department for Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), brought understanding of international trade issues (along with DFAT staff) to rural communities
  • Many members attended the international conference for agricultural women in Melbourne, Washington, Madrid and Durban
  • Delegates at national forums, members of advisory boards and statutory authorities
